VOICES OF VOLUNTEERING – EP 1 – YURKO DIDULA: RECOVERY VOLUNTEERING
We begin the first episode with a conversation with Yuriy Didula, co-founder and head of the NGO Building Ukraine Together. We talk about creative activism, the work of local centers, the organization of camps, and the power of mobility. The guest shares stories about his return from the United States in 2014, the importance of maintaining a balance between personal and volunteer life, and the events surrounding his marriage at the Building Ukraine Together camp: “If people are passionate about the idea of a successful Ukraine, they cannot stay abroad. Our organization emerged from a sense of personal responsibility for what is happening in the country. It is about building trust through working together, sharing values and discovering new opportunities. After the liberation of Crimea and Donbas, we will be ready to immediately start the recovery process.” We also discuss other initiatives, such as Repair Together, Brave to Rebuild, rave cleanups, and the value of collaborative volunteering.
