VOICES OF VOLUNTEERING – EP 4 – OLEH MALETS: YOUTH VOLUNTEERING AND EMPOWERED YOUTH

“Before the war, my little niece wanted to be a blogger, but after February 24, she wants to become a volunteer,” is how Oleh Malets, CEO of the TWORY Network of Youth Spaces, author of the podcast “Molo Has a Question” and guest of the new episode of Voices of Volunteering, describes the image of volunteering in Ukraine.

Anna Bondarenko discussed with Oleh the younger generation of Ukrainians, their role in our victory, and the future rebirth of the country. How did young people manage to organize so quickly during the full-scale invasion? How did the youth community in Lviv react to the war? What motivates young people to volunteer and stay in Ukraine? What is the secret of self-sufficiency? Is it appropriate to compare our youth to the “lost generation”? “Our youth is not lost, our youth is empowered,” says Oleh Malets, and Victoria Kravets, vice chair of the Children’s Advisory Council of Lviv, proves this point. The girl is only 17 and has already coordinated one of the city’s volunteer headquarters.

The fourth episode's bonus is Oleh’s step-by-step instructions on what to do if you want to be helpful but are unsure what to do.

Voices of Volunteering is a podcast about systemic volunteering, an encyclopedia of the management of good deeds, and a chance to meet representatives of various relevant areas. The podcast is hosted by Anna Bondarenko, founder and head of the Ukrainian Volunteer Service.
