VOICES OF VOLUNTEERING – EP 6 – WHEELS OF VICTORY: LEGAL BACKSTAGE OF CHARITY
We love open recordings, and today, we are going to have another episode of the Voices of Volunteering podcast! The sixth episode was recorded at the Blahoforum, an event where volunteers shared their experiences and learned from each other. Our guests are Myroslav Kolodiy and Andriy Andriychuk from the Wheels of Victory charitable foundation. Together with their colleagues, the men search for, purchase, and bring to Ukraine cars for the military.
We are well aware of charity’s value and mission components, but the legal and organizational “backstage” often remains unexplored. That is why our Anna Bondarenko wanted to find out more about such practical aspects of volunteer activities as how, where, and for what money one can buy a car for the military, to whom it can be transferred, and what documents are required. We discussed the latest register of volunteers and addressed the most pressing questions. Who needs to submit their data to the register? What about volunteers who raised funds on private cards? Who will be checked by the tax authorities? How to prove that the funds were spent on humanitarian aid? “The state is not just someone up there. Volunteers are also part of the state. We can influence decision-makers and legislation.”
