VOICES OF VOLUNTEERING – EP 7 – DENYS PAKHOMOV: VOLUNTEERING TOWARD EVACUATION
To record this episode, our Anna Bondarenko went to Kharkiv. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the city has been bravely standing up to the enemy, local volunteers have been doing a titanic job, and the Nakypilo media outlet continues its information defense and warmly welcomed us to their studio.
The guest of the seventh episode is Denys Pakhomov, co-founder of the charity foundation Turbota Ye. Before February 24, Denys was a crossfit coach and organized extreme sports shows. Then he started volunteering at the Kharkiv railway, evacuating people, delivering humanitarian supplies, and taking constant risks, which are now a regular part of his life.
We spoke with Denys about the evacuation, but like all our interviewees, he told us his personal story and shared the values behind his strength to help others. How did he become a volunteer? How does he deal with fear? What events are the most emotionally demanding? How does he recharge, and what will he do after the victory? Also, in the episode, we will hear the voice of volunteer Yevhen from Skadovsk, who fled the city yet continues to help people from the frontline areas with the Blyzki project.
