VOICES OF VOLUNTEERING – EP 5 – SNIZHANA BURDENIUK: VOLUNTEERING FOR CHILDREN

Our children see volunteering as a natural part of their lives. When they grow up, they will consider helping others an everyday duty. In the fifth episode of the Voices of Volunteering podcast, we talk about volunteers who help children. Anna Bondarenko invited Snizhana Burdeniuk, head of the mobile brigade SpivDiia zarady Ditei (Co-action for Children), to ask about the new generation of Ukrainians and the role of volunteering in their lives.

How can a volunteer start working with children? What is this work about? What does the work of the SpivDiia zarady Ditei groups look like? What kind of requests do parents make? What is the role of a mentor in a children’s group? What to do when children become closed and do not want to interact? And what to do when they get used to you and don’t want to let you go? What can adults learn from children? Yulia Pankevych, coordinator of the Ukrainian Volunteer Service, who also volunteered for children, also joined the conversation: “We are used to the idea that children are our future. I believe that children are also our present. No matter how old they are, they are already influencing the way our country lives now and what it strives for.”

Voices of Volunteering is a podcast about systemic volunteering, an encyclopedia of the management of good deeds, and a chance to meet representatives of various relevant areas. The podcast is hosted by Anna Bondarenko, founder and head of the Ukrainian Volunteer Service.
