5 BASIC RULES FOR VOLUNTEERS THAT HELP YOU STAY STRONG IN TIMES OF WAR
This article explains how to create an effective support system and organize local volunteering.
Volunteering is voluntary, socially beneficial, and gratuitous assistance. Anyone can become a volunteer; the only thing that matters is a sincere desire to help others. Today, more and more people are asking for help, and thus, the demand for volunteering is growing.
First and foremost, every volunteer should follow these basic rules.
· Put your own safety first. As we say, we should put on our own oxygen masks first and then help our children with theirs. Make sure that your volunteering location is safe enough and you do not feel scared.
· Do not panic. Panic makes it difficult to organize the help process, which can result in chaos. You should always act reasonably and carefully.
· Do what you are good at. Can you cook well? Ukrainian defenders should not be hungry! Are you a good driver? Then car volunteering is for you!
· Focus on one activity. Do not take on too much. Estimate your capabilities well and remember that it is impossible to save the whole world. Choose to work in one or two areas.
· First, help those who are closest. It will probably be easier and more effective, and people will not have to look for a solution in big chats or Instagram stories.
So, after you have assessed your capabilities, it is time to find those who need help and figure out how you can contribute.
